CONCRETE TAGGING

Concrete Tagging is a crossmedial discipline that merges digital artwork with 3D printing and concrete casting to create a new level of street art. Based on hand-drawn calligraphy, the conversion prcess starts with vectorization and integration in a 3D scene. Extracted from there, I get out a 3D print which is the positive form for creating a silicone mold to get out the negative replica from the original. This leads to the creation of concrete casted artworks which are further on prepared for becoming permanent installation artworks with a special vintage look coming from the corrosion effect by vinegar essence. Concrete tagging as a term describes the non-buffable tag that is used to communicate with the streets we live in.

Concrete Tagging ist eine medienübergreifende Disziplin, die digitale Kunstwerke mit 3D-Druck und Betonguss verbindet, um eine neue Variante von Streetart zu schaffen. Basierend auf handgezeichneter Kalligraphie beginnt der Konvertierungsprozess mit der Vektorisierung und Integration in eine 3D-Szene. Von dort aus extrahiere ich einen 3D-Druck, der die Positivform für die Herstellung der Silikonform wird. Dies führt zu Betonguss-Kunstwerken, die später zu dauerhaften urbanen Installationen mit im Vintage-Look durch den Korrosionseffekt von Essigessenz und Eisenspähnen werden. Der Begriff „Concrete Tagging“ beschreibt die nicht löschbare Markierung in der Gesellschaft, die als Kommunikationsmedium mit den Orten, in denen wir leben, verwendet wird.

After 48h drying, the concrete tile becomes a special corrosion patina by working with vinegar essence and iron particles on top which has to dry another 24h befor getting partially brushed away with an iron brush.

Also broken art can become a second life in combination with an old iron plate as art frame.

The 3D printed prototype can be art in itself or a positive for the mold process.
